Grant Morrison Documentary Trailer!

As I mentioned earlier, I’m currently working on a documentary about Grant Morrison. We shot some stuff last month, and are heading out to San Diego to shoot at Comicon in July. The film is still a ways off, but the first trailer’s gone live on the Sequart Youtube channel. Watch it now…

Contact will definitely be made! Though, I don't know if we'll get any John Lithgow in this project.

this is exciting Patrick -- I am very stoked about this. Living in Utah, the state religion was founded by a mystic who reminds me a lot of Grant. In Joseph Smith's narrative, he also saw a "pillar of light" that turned out to be Jesus. Joseph had shamanic gifts that all pretty much left Mormonism after his martyrdom. Then the faith became routinized, tyrannical and conservative. Just check out Mitt Romney.

I'm a huge Morrison fan so I'm looking forward to this work.

Peace,
Troy

Morrison on a lot more about the 'meeting Jesus' experience that's briefly in the trailer, and the main takeaway was the idea that in the past, people didn't have the tools to comprehend that kind of experience fully, so the few people who did go through something like that became religious leaders like Jesus, or Buddha, or Joseph Smith. But, today, it's happening to more people, but being perceived in a different way, like alien abduction, or the Zebra Lazer that Philip K. Dick talks about.

And, he also talked about how organized religion could drain the magic or energy out of the initial experience because it puts up intermediaries between the believer and the actual experience of the divine.
